Are you to ready to embark on a unique and transformational journey of growth, insight, and self-discovery, through the creative and compassionate lenses of coaching and music?

Music and Coaching both have the power to soothe, inspire, illuminate, and heal. Creating your own original song through this transformative experience can help you gain new perspective, process challenging experiences, express what’s been inexpressible, and find your voice (physically and metaphorically). If you are wrestling with uncomfortable emotions, feeling stuck, have experienced a profound loss, or have something percolating inside you that is longing to be expressed, this uniquely creative, transformational program is for you.

NO MUSICAL OR SONGWRITING EXPERIENCE REQUIRED!

This deeply collaborative and joyful process doesn’t require you to have any previous musical experience or abilities. Leslie will work with you one-on-one to explore a song theme that is deeply meaningful to you, and through powerful questions and coaching conversations, will guide you through the process of self-exploration in a safe, judgment-free, and supportive way. Using the Integral Coaching™ Method, Leslie can help you unpack your song topic, and together together you will create the lyrics to an original song. Leslie will compose the original music, and accompany you to Soundcreation Studio, a professional recording studio where we will bring the song to life with Co-producer, Musician, and Professional Audio Engineer Scott Walsh.

This completely personalized program is designed to meet you where you are, in a non-judgmental, safe and supportive collaboration. Anchored in the Integral Coaching™ Method, Leslie helps you unpack your song topic, co-writes the lyrics and writes the accompanying music, which creates profound new insights and awareness, and you will also come away with a finished, professionally produced song that you will be proud to share with others (or keep it just for yourself, if you prefer).

WHAT PARTICIPANTS ARE SAYING

“I was blown away by my experience with Scott and Leslie. This dynamic duo held my heart with such tenderness while I found the courage to write what had been longing to be shared and to sing what had never been spoken. If you are looking for a creative and compassionate way to explore, gain insight or excavate meaning, I would urge you to connect with Leslie and Scott. This experience has been so deeply meaningful and will continue to reverberate for years to come as I continue on my grief journey.” — DINA BELL-LAROCHE (Grief Coach) | Listen to Dina’s song ‘Before and After’ on YouTube.

“My gratitude is never ending to Leslie Rohonczy and Scott Walsh, both supremely talented musicians / artists and without them, I'd still be lost, shuffling around like the Walking Dead. Thank you! This whole process has served as the BEST therapy!” — RACHELE CARRIER | Listen to Rachele’s song ‘Rachele’s Lullaby’ on YouTube.

“What starts as an idea and a few chords, transforms into a beautiful heartfelt song, and ends up as an unparalleled and humbling experience shared with the insanely talented Leslie Rohonczy and Scott Walsh. When I first connected with Leslie, I really didn't believe I could write a song, let alone sing and record it! But Leslie taught me to write what inspires me, sing from my heart and the only thing getting in my way was me. 5 songs already under my belt and more written, just waiting to be recorded with the guidance of Leslie - a truly inspiring musician, coach and now friend.” — MIKE LANCE | Listen to Mike’s song ‘The Kitchen’ on YouTube.

“I am so grateful for Leslie’s ability to help me process the anxiety I felt as a result of a difficult time in my life where I was bullied. Through asking me powerful questions her coaching helped me dig deep within myself to articulate and channel the thoughts and feelings swirling through my body and mind. Naming and processing my emotions through songwriting was a powerful way to take my space back and stand up for myself.  And if that wasn't enough, Leslie also introduced me to the incredible Scott Walsh. I will be forever grateful to them both, and cannot possibly recommend working with them enough.” — ISABELLA FALCONE | Listen to Isabella’s song ‘Dial You Back’ on YouTube.

“I cannot recommend this music coaching program enough! Typically this program is one in which a client embarks upon a musical journey to help them heal from a difficult circumstance or provide growth or insight. My experience was a little different. I met the love of my life later in life and have felt so incredibly lucky and grateful. While I was sharing this experience with Leslie, I asked if she could help me express this joy in a song. Happily Leslie agreed. I will be honest to tell you that once Leslie agreed, I was having several “oh shit” moments, thinking what have I done? I was so fearful I almost cancelled our first session together. All my thoughts were- I can’t do this, I have zero musical ability, I have a terrible singing voice, etc…  To put it mildly, this was WAY out of my comfort zone. Well- if you are going push yourself out of your comfort zone and take a leap of faith- Leslie and Scott are the people to do it with.  I have never been so happy that I pushed through my fear because, while this song was a wedding gift for my husband, going through this incredible process with Leslie and Scott’s guidance, became a gift to myself. Leslie and Scott are without question amazingly talented musicians, but they are also just really special people. They are people that fill your cup up with light and encouragement. If this experience is something you are considering- do it- you will be so happy you did!” — KAREN NAGY | Listen to Karen’s song ‘Waterfall’ on YouTube.

How do I figure out what my topic is AND how to write a song about it?

Reflection in advance of your sessions is a key part of the Music Coaching Program process. Throughout the intake conversation, and two songwriting sessions, Leslie will guide you through a process to help deepen your understanding and explore different perspectives. Together, you’ll craft the song lyrics from that new awareness in a highly collaborative, iterative process of discovery. Here are six questions to reflect on, to help you identify, unpack and explore your song topic:

  • SONG TOPIC: What’s the story you want to tell? (It may help to think of the story you want to tell as a novel, a movie script, a campfire story, a testimony, etc.)

  • MEANING: Why is this story so deeply meaningful to you? What is it about the story that really touches you, or brings out your emotions?

  • CHARACTER(S): Who are the people at the center of the story, and what aspects of your relationship do you want to capture as part of your song?

  • MESSAGE: what ‘big message’ do you want to convey with your song? What small details are important? What do people really need to know?

  • TIMELINE: What event(s) should be acknowledged in the song? Is there an important timeline? A beginning, middle, and end? What are (or were) the moments that matter?

  • EMOTION: What emotions do you have that need to be expressed? What do you wish was different? What are you grateful for? What emotions do you want to evoke in your listeners?

Do you have examples of what others have written about?

  • Navigating grief after the loss of a loved one

  • Processing intense or uncomfortable emotions

  • Gratitude for someone who means the world to you

  • Traversing the discomfort of conflict

  • An important family story that longs to be told

  • Coming to terms with the end of a relationship

  • A compassionate exploration of your inner critic

  • Expressing your authentic self fully

  • Reconnecting to a creative part of yourself that’s been dormant

When we get into the studio, how long does it take to record a song?

It depends on two things: 1) your ability to trust the process and be willing to lean into trying new things, and 2) the music genre style and selection of instruments required to create the final track. Often, creating the instrumentation for a simple song (one acoustic guitar, piano, bass, and your lead vocal) can be done in a single full-day session, with a second session for mixing, final adjustments, and mastering the track. More complex mixes (with multiple acoustic and electric guitars, layered tracks of piano, organ, or synthesizer, orchestral strings, saxophone, flute, lead and backing vocals, etc.) may require additional recording session(s).

I’m nervous because this is my first time recording. How do I calm my nerves?

Recording in front of others can feel awkward at first, especially if this is your first time in a studio. Rest assured that we have worked with many first-timers who were also nervous at the beginning of the process. We focus on building trust, encouraging experimentation, and leveraging our technical know-how to pull the best performance out of each person. We’ve got you.

What if I don’t want to sing my own song? Can a professional sing it instead?

We will work with you every step of the way and help you to feel comfortable throughout the whole process. Ultimately, it is your choice! Should you decide not to sing your own song, we can provide professional male or female vocals for your track. (But we really hope you decide to give it a try!)

In what format will I receive my song when it’s finished?

Recorded audio files can be massive, so we don’t send files through email or file-sharing servers. Please bring a blank USB/external drive with you to your recording sessions, so that at the end of each recording session, we can save the wav and/or mp3 file(s) to your drive.

Can I do this program remotely?

It’s possible to do the initial intake session remotely, but you’ll need to be in person in Ottawa Canada for the songwriting and studio preparation sessions at Leslie Rohonczy Studio, and for the recording sessions at Soundcreation Studio. You may request to schedule all four sessions together over 4 consecutive days, when travelling to Ottawa.

What happens if I miss my session?

You can contact us up to 24-hours before your scheduled session, and we will do our best to re-schedule for you at no cost. If you miss without notice, you’ll be charged a 4-hour minimum ($240).

Can I take photos or videos in the studio for my social media?

Yes, photos and videos are a great way to capture the fun in the recording studio. Don’t forget to tag us!

Can I bring food or drinks (alcohol included) in the studio?

Full day recording studio sessions begin at 10am and finish at 5pm, so you’ll need to bring a lunch, snacks, and drinks to keep you going. Alcohol is allowed when handled responsibly.

Can I bring my friends or kids to the studio with me?

We understand that it’s exciting to record in a studio, and often friends or family want to tag along to check it out or provide moral support. But we don’t encourage bringing others because they can unintentionally distract you, and interrupt the delicate flow state required for this creative process, which wastes valuable production time. However, you may bring someone who has a specific role (eg: a guitar player, pianist, backup singer, etc.) Please let Leslie know in advance if you decide to bring someone else, as it could potentially require additional planning and studio recording time.

Please contact Leslie if you have more questions.
